In the Rose Center for Earth and Space, there will also be a live feed of the eclipse from the NASA headquarters. So buy your tickets now and get a jump on the lines for this fantastic opportunity!
Pioneer Works
This multipurpose art center in the city will host the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York for an official eclipse-viewing party! In this party, they’ll go in-depth into the phases and cycles of an eclipse. The association will install solar telescopes so the eclipse can be viewed safely. So if you’re a keen amateur astronomer and you’re looking to build on your knowledge, then visit the Pioneer Works Center and take a look through their high-quality telescopes.
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
The Intrepid is a decommissioned aircraft carrier-turned-museum. Furthermore, it is expected to host a free eclipse-viewing event that comes free with museum admission. The schedule includes a tour of the flight deck, a screening of NASA’s live feed, and perfect spots for viewing the event. Solar telescopes will be set up, and eclipse glasses will be given to visitors. If you have your own solar eclipse glasses, make sure to bring them in case they run out!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The rooftop of this museum has traditionally been used to take in the view of Manhattan, but it is excellent for viewing the eclipse as well. How often can you get to see the skyscrapers of the city covered in an eclipse? Be sure to take a look at the first photographs ever of a total solar eclipse from 1854! It’s an incredible exhibit and is worth checking out.
